My new book's cover is out. Thought you'd like to see it, and I'm interested in your take on the cover art. (Book coming in February from Palgrave Macmillan).
I really like the cover imagery. Immediately looking at it, I assume that you are representing America as in a decline. The flag looks like a bar graph and the downward progression of the bars usually signifies a bad outcome. I hope I am not too far off of the mark with this assumption.
It could be easily seen as either a downward bar graph or an ascending staircase, an interesting sort of an inherent contradiction that I think turned out in a very clever way. From afar, at first glance, I thought cigarettes were involved. I have no idea why.
I really like it. Just a question: is the aged look at the top part of the design, or is it just wear and tear on a piece of paper? I kind of like jagged edges and brown tinting though. Adds to the ominous title.
I really like the book cover, and how the aged look kind of suggests to me that you might be touching on a little about history. I definitely like the flag and Liana pointed out a good point that the flag can be seen either as a declining bar graph or a ascending stair case so it does not give what the book is about away so easily, it's up to interpretation and I like that because we can not tell what you think the future of American power is. You would have to read to find out.
